Software Testing Program
Opportunity: This Chicago Career Tech corporate-based pathway to employment gives participants the opportunity to receive training to become an entry-level software tester with SPR Companies or one of its partners. Participants in the Software program will learn the skills, knowledge, responsibilities associated with the entry-level tester role. Entry-level testers have the opportunity to grow their testing knowledge and experience through the TAP Entry Level Training Program followed by on-the-job mentoring by the senior level test engineers in our testing facilities. After gaining experience, these entry-level testers may also be placed on assignment at clients’ locations.

Within the near shore testing team, the entry-level tester role is responsible for executing manual test cases for the application under test and record all defects detected. As the entry level tester gains experience, he/she will then be responsible for preparing test cases based on software requirements and design specifications, in addition to running tests and documenting defects.
Jobs upon Completion: The SPR Software Testing program prepares participants for a job as an Entry-Level Tester with SPR or a partner. This is a career path with a high growth trajectory and can lead to jobs as a Quality Assurance Tester, Quality Assurance Analyst, or Test Engineer.
Pre-Requisites:
1. Associates degree required
2. Experience with technology and software applications as demonstrated by:
a) a bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology (IT) related field or
b) prior work experience in an area within Information Technology such as programming,
business analysis, project management, database or
c) prior work experience with daily use of application software to perform responsibilities
such as an accounting system, medical records system, salesforce.com, SAP, etc.
3. Proficient in the use of a PC and MS Office Excel and Word
4. Highly motivated and eager to learn; hands-on learner
5. Enjoys working in a team environment and is a team player
Program timeframe: Beginning in early April; up to 24 weeks
Certifications to be earned: Certified Associate Software Tester (CAST) from the QAI Global Institute
