
Chicago Career Tech’s impact on the City and its residents is growing rapidly, providing retraining opportunities for unemployed Chicagoans that prepare them for currently available technology-related positions. With three classes completed and a fourth scheduled to graduate in spring 2012, 950 Chicago residents have developed the skills needed to transition to and succeed in high-demand careers.
Chicago Career Tech measures its success through:
- Participants’ successful completion of the program: Chicago Career Tech boasts an average 91% graduation rate with three classes completed to date.
- Pilot class: 90%
- Second class: 91%
- Third class: 93%
- Success Rates: Chicago Career Tech and evaluation partner Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago recently completed an analysis of the second class, both at 90 and 180 days post-graduation:
- Chicago Career Tech’s second class entered employment rate for the Department of Labor/Workforce Investment Act is 74%.
- Of those graduates from the second class who self-reported their employment status to CCT, 63% have secured employment.
- Chapin Hall data at the 90-day mark indicated that 18% of self-reporting graduates from the second class opted to further their education or training.
- While the post-graduate salaries from the second class vary, self-reported wages to CCT indicated an average annual salary of approximately $42,100.
As of December 2011, more than 150 companies have hired Chicago Career Tech graduates.
