Pre-requisites:
- High school diploma/GED required, BA strongly recommended
- Some college preferred
- Basic computer skills
- Strong interest in project management and past work experience in IT preferred
- At least 1,500 hours of project management experience strongly recommended (to sit for the CAPM)

Training schedule: Fridays (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.) and Saturdays (9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) for 24 weeks

- CompTIA Project+

Percentage of course that is instructor-led vs. online: 100% instructor-led instruction. Online classroom in the Blackboard Learning System provides for review, additional study, and 24/7 student communication.
Course description: The Project Management Program includes one course offered through the School of Applied Technology in the Information Technology and Management degree programs. In addition to this one course will be soft skills, presentation skills, leadership training, team building and technical writing required for success in program management. Students will learn to describe the current state and best practices of information technology project management using appropriate terminology, analyze project management decisions in terms of technical, cost-benefit and human resource considerations and assess the risk exposure of an IT project and develop plans for mitigating and managing risks. Students will learn to develop mechanisms for capturing and reporting objective measures of project progress and apply frameworks for effective planning and decision making regarding IT project management. Students will learn to describe the human resource, financial, and technical responsibilities of an IT project manager, including the unique challenges associated with outsourcing, off-shoring, and globalization, discuss the impact of quality management and process maturity on IT project management, and discuss the role of portfolio management in realizing corporate strategic vision.
Program 2 – DeVry University
Location: DeVry University, 3300 N. Campbell Avenue, Chicago
Pre-requisites:
- BA required
- Considerable experience in a business office environment strongly recommended
- At least 1,500 hours of project management experience strongly recommended (to sit for the CAPM)
Training schedule: Fridays (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) and Saturdays (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) for 24 weeks
Certifications to be earned:
- DeVry University Certificate in Project Management
- Project Management Institute CAPM (or PMP for persons with 4500 hours of non-duplicative project management experience and previous PM course credits)
Examples of jobs that use this type of technology certification: Scheduler, Risk Manager, Operations Manager, Contract and Procurement Manager, and .Project Manager.
Summary of skills learned: The Project Management Certificate program helps students develop the ability to solve real-world management problems by building the technical foundation which empowers them to formulate business tasks in quantitative terms. Program objectives include:

- Preparing students to effectively monitor, control and report project costs and schedules, as well as monitor the risks involved.
Percentage of course that is instructor-led vs. online: 80% instructor-led, 20% online

The Project Management Certificate program helps students develop the ability to solve real-world management problems by building the technical foundation which empowers them to formulate business tasks in quantitative terms. Upon successful completion of the course, program students will earn a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) from the Project Management Institute. In addition students will be prepared to sit for the Project Management Professionals (PMP) exam, a globally recognized certification for Project Management. Program objectives include:

- Providing students with skills needed to accurately plan project task, budget and resource requirements
- Preparing students to effectively monitor, control and report project costs and schedules, as well as monitor the risks involved.
