Pre-requisites:
Required
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Microsoft Office suite experience strongly recommended
- A solid understanding of Web technologies required (including basic HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), JavaScript, ASP.NET and basic database theories)
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Active Directory Users and Computers experience – create new user accounts, reset passwords, and perform general user and group account activities
- SQL Server – a basic understanding of how to apply permissions to a database
- Windows 2008 Server – a basic understanding of Active Directory
- Networking – a basic understanding and the ability to assign IP addresses, host names
Training timeframe: Beginning in late May 2012; up to 21 weeks
Certifications to be earned:
- MCTS: SharePoint 2010, Configuring Exam and/or
- MCTS: SharePoint 201, Administrator Exam
Examples of jobs that use this type of technology certification: SharePoint Administrator, SharePoint Developer and SharePoint Architect.
Summary of skills learned:
- Use, create, and edit content in a team website, and create and perform basic management of a team site using SharePoint Foundation 2010.
- Manage site collections and site components as a site collection administrator and as a site administrator.
- Install, configure, and administrate SharePoint 2010.
- Manage and monitor sites and users by using SharePoint 2010.
- Manage customization to a SharePoint implementation.
- Secure content in SharePoint sites.
- Monitor and optimize SharePoint performance.

Course description: The SharePoint Content Management program prepares students to fully understand Microsoft SharePoint, the application for office and enterprise use. The successful participant will prepare documents for review throughout an organization, increasing effective use of time for those managing documents distribution across departments.
Microsoft SharePoint 2010 makes it easier for people to work together. Using SharePoint 2010, the administrator can set up Web sites to share information with others, manage documents from start to finish, and publish reports to help everyone within an office or enterprise make better decisions. The administrator helps offices work better, faster, and smarter.
