Location: City Colleges of Chicago, Harold Washington College, 30 E. Lake Street, Chicago

Pre-requisites:

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems and basic understanding of Microsoft computers required
  • Strong desire to work “behind” the computer

Training timeframe: Beginning in late May for 24 weeks

Certifications to be earned:

  1. CompTIA A+
  2. CISCO Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT)
  3. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

Examples of jobs that use this type of technology certification: Computer Repairer, IT Help Desk, IT Systems Coordinator.

Course description: The Network Technician Training track is ideal for the participant who wants to build a quality foundation in networking, but does not have significant network experience.  The program prepares participants to install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network, including basic network security, the skills required for entry-level network support positions – the starting point for many successful careers in networking. This program will result in the industry-recognized credentials including Cisco Certified Entry-level Network Technician (CCENT). CCENT is the first step toward achieving CCNA, which covers medium size enterprise branch networks with more complex connections.
