Nearly 300 unemployed Chicagoans will participate in the rigorous four- to six-month program to gain new skills and the confidence to rejoin the workforce in the in-demand healthcare and technology fields.

CHICAGO—May 20, 2011—Business, government and nonprofit leaders from across the city joined together today to formally launch Chicago Career Tech’s third class at a special kickoff event at the Illinois Institute of Technology. For the next six months, more than 250 unemployed Chicagoans will participate in the innovative, six-day-a-week job retraining program.

CHICAGO—March 25, 2011—A unique new public-private partnership has developed between the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and Chicago Career Tech, a nonprofit organization that offers an innovative job-retraining program developed to provide low and middle-income unemployed residents with the training and education necessary for high-demand technology-based careers.

CHICAGO—January 10, 2011—Chicago Career Tech, the city’s innovative job retraining program, announced today that applications are being accepted for its third session. The program, which trains unemployed middle-income Chicagoans for high-demand technology-based careers, will expand capacity to accommodate up to 400 qualified participants—an increase of approximately 33 percent over the current class size.
